Sybase to focus on Indian solutions

The $ 1 billion Sybase Inc has launched a Sybase Developer Program in India to promote solutions built on Sybase technology and relevant to Indian business models.

In this program, select developers will be provided a free Sybase developer kit and also be given discounts on training, consultation, collaborative marketing of Sybase products besides being given special advertising options in Sybase publications.

The program plans, to target, among others, developers working in telecommuncations, enterprisewide resource planning, banking, insurance, financial services, manufacturing, energy, human resources, media and healthcare. The program has already generated heartening interest, according to Sybase sources.

Sybase is also working with universities and business houses to keep computer curricula up with current technology and advances through its Sybase Technology Education Programme. The Rs 85,000 enrollment fee for universities provides a free Sybase education kit, summer internship for two students, training for teaching staff at Bangalore, enlistment of students into the Sybase job hand and campus recruitment opportunities.

The company is now considering launching STEP in other countries too.
