Centre plans more software parksThe department of electronics, apparently in an effort to further the cause of the software revolution in India, has planned three new software parks -- in New Bombay, Mohali, Chandigarh and in Jaipur. This pushes the number of software parks in India to 12. The DOE has already begun talks with the involved state governments regarding the organisation of the facilities to be set up in the current financial year, especially to ensure high speed connectivity.
In other efforts to reduce bottlenecks, software exporters have been exempted from customs duties and other regulations. Former DOE secretary Shyamlal Ghosh said later that the problems of STPs could be reduced with venture capital funds provided by either SIBDI or a new body especially targetting STPs. -Compiled from the Indian media |
