With its eSuite family of products, Lotus is introducing a new class of business productivity solutions that will deliver efficient basic computing resources to a broader base of users and significantly reduce the cost of software ownership. The Java based eSuite product line comprises WorkPlace, a desktop tool that offers access to email, Web browsing, terminal emulation and a set of compact business productivity applets. The DevPack gives network developers the tools they need to create interactive solutions that can be deployed across a platform supporting Java. "Our goal in bringing eSuite to market is simple; to make computing easier, less expensive and more closely tied to an organisation's business objectives,'' said Alex Niehaus, director, marketing, Lotus Development Asia-Pacific. The WorkPlace software includes a word processor, an email client, a Web browser, a spreadsheet application, a calendar, a chart, a presentation graphics tool and an address book. These applets are small, modular and load quickly on demand from a server. WorkPlace is built to co-exist in enterprise environments that include traditional office suites. - Compiled from the Indian media |
