The service envisages linking all the 61 districts and tehsils of the state through the Internet.

Swaraj said that her government aims to connect all the district headquarters of the country through the Internet by January 26, 2000.

She said that the world is witnessing an era of fast growing communication and a proper mode of communication is an essential ingredient in development.

Madhya Pradesh Telecommunications Circle Chief General Manager A K Bhatnagar said that the calls to access Internet facilities would be charged at the rate of a local call.

While video conferencing with BJP MP Sumitra Mahajan, Swaraj said the facility had opened new vistas of communication.

Swaraj also spoke to former chief minister Motilal Vora and Bhopal MP S C Varma through the new facilities.

Swaraj also inaugurated the 'integrated services digital network', or ISDN, services at the central telegraph office.
