Strabus wins two domestic projectsHyderabad based Strabus Software Solutions Private Limited has bagged two major orders, one to develop a clearinghouse system for Discount and Finance House of India Limited, Bombay, and another to build a 'custodial information processing system' for ABN Amro Bank, also of Bombay.Strabus Director (Business) T S Dhanunjay has been quoted as saying that "These orders reiterate our belief that the domestic market rewards only those who are willing to run the last mile. Right from inception, about eight years ago, Strabus has been committed to the domestic market. Today, the hard work has started paying off.''
Being a sensitive financial system, which requires precision and accuracy, the proposed clearinghouse system for DFHI is being developed using Oracle RDBMS and Developer/2000. "Our technical strength in Oracle and functional depth in financial services have contributed to our success in bagging the order in a very competitive market,'' Dhanunjay said. The custodial information processing system for ABN Amro Bank is underway now. The project is being executed as part of the arrangement that Strabus has with an Australian software company, CSSL Asia Pacific, to implement custody systems in various banks operating in Asia. "We are negotiating for works with Bahrain and Kazakhstan branches. The company has been providing technical support for these systems. Custodial information processing system stores and processes data concerning validity of securities,'' Dhanunjay said. The central clearinghouse of DFHI, a leading player in the money market, clears cheques for banking institutions. The system is sensitive and deals with financial data and handles large volumes. Cent per cent accuracy is necessary in processing such sensitive data relating to financial transactions. The facility conceptualises migrating to a client-server environment. Besides the above, Strabus has undertaken a major order from Icrisat, located near Hyderabad. "This is our first project that uses Net enabling technologies such as COM, ActiveX and HTML. We will be building a full-fledged Web based system consisting of a dynamic Web site, a transaction processing system and a database,'' he said. The Icrisat project, code named 'Project Apostle', is an online publication ordering system that is similar to Amazon.com's. In that sense, the system is one of the few true Web based transaction-oriented projects in the domestic market. Most others are plain storefronts with simple order forms, Dhanunjay said. Project Apostle, the first phase of which is already in place and which is planned to be completed by March is being developed using the full Microsoft suite tools including FrontPage, Visual Basic, BackOffice and Windows NT.
