Overhaul at OracleOracle Software India Limited, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the world's second largest software company, has announced a major restructuring of its senior management to meet increased requirements of the fast changing Indian information technology market.Chairman and Managing Director Anil Kaul has said that while the senior management structure of Oracle India for the last four years has served well in developing focused lines of business, the market scenario has been dynamic and the computing paradigm is shifting towards network computing, creating different requirement. He said the restructuring of the Oracle India region is aimed at "creating an aligned organisation with clear processes for all groups across all lines of its business". Its main lines of business are database, tools and application products with related consulting, education and support services. Besides increasing productivity, the reorganisation of the company seeks to achieve better response from the Indian customer in the difficult market conditions. The company is also gearing up to grab a maximum share of a big market being thrown open by the infrastructure sector. With the Union government declaring 1997-98 as the year of infrastructure, the IT market in power, roads, transport and financial services sectors would grow manifold. "The overriding objective for Oracle's India region is to be a key contributor in India's infrastructure development process now underway," Kaul said. Briefed to achieve higher business growth in 1997-98, each of the senior functionaries has been given a 'mission statement'. Oracle India has branches in Bangalore, Calcutta, Madras, and Bombay. The head office is in New Delhi. It is also in charge of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal through its partners. With annual revenues of $5.7 billion, the US based Oracle Corp markets its software products in over 140 countries. |
