IBM Ace launched

IBM, in association with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and Lotus Development Corporation, has launched its centre for software education and training, the IBM Ace, in Bombay today.

Fifteen such authorised centres for education have been set up across India to help produce skilled manpower required by the Indian information technology industry.

IBM has, over the years, contributed towards the development of software industry and established a $400 million education programme spread across 56 countries worldwide.

IBM, together with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, aims to provide software training comparable to international standards.

The courses offered at the IBM Ace conform to IBM's education norms worldwide. What sets the IBM Ace apart from other training institutes is that it is an excellent example of collaboration between academia and industry in an area of vital importance for national progress, said IIT Director Professor R C Malhotra.

The courses cover all the core subjects of a typical B Tech in computer sciences which include programming in C, computer organisation, data structure, operating systems, language processors, RDBMS skills with DB2 and Oracle, software engineering, network programming, groupware with Lotus Notes, GUI programming, Web content creation and Java programming.
