RPG Paging to offer more services

RPG Paging Services Limited plans to introduce several value-added facilities including secretarial services and 'Follow Me', a method by which a message is delivered even when one is out of town.

Avneesh Khosla, RPG Paging's marketing manager, has said that the company plans to introduce InfoPlus by which news headlines, financial information, bullion prices, cricket scores, scrip prices and Sensex updates will be displayed without beeps or vibrations.

The other services planned include the option to page in Tamil (RPG has introduced bilingual paging in Delhi and Ahmedabad), remote paging and auto paging. Also on the cards is a system by which updates on bank accounts and credit card accounts can be accessed instantly.

Flex paging, involving a new and advanced protocol is also to be introduced in Madras soon.

At present, there are 650,000 pager owners in India and according to Dilip R Mehta, president and CEO, RPG Paging, this is a significant growth since May 1995 when pagers were introduced in the Indian market.

The US took 12 years and China took seven years to achieve this target, he added.

The second exclusive showroom of RPG Paging and Motorola in Madras was inaugurated by M Saravanan, managing partner, AVM Productions. This aims to create an increased awareness among potential subscribers about the cost- effectiveness of pagers compared with the prohibitively expensive cellular services.

The outlet will also act as a subscription collection centre for RPG Paging subscribers as well as an after-sales service outlet for Motorola pagers, according to a press release.
