Baan Institute ties up with Indian varsityA unique relationship in the framework of 'university synergy programme' initiated by the Baan Institute of the Netherlands is being developed between the S P Jain Institute of Management and Research of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the Baan Institute.Within this framework about 12 universities, including the Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Technion University of Israel and Stanford University of the US will be networked this year.
Universities are an important sources of intellectual capital, however, they don't always have access to the business community. The Baan Institute intends to become the knowledge hub that links players from the academic, business and technology worlds, Andries Buttema, president and commander of the Baan Institute told Indian reporters. S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, with its mission to influence practice, is engaged in management education through its post-graduate programme. Executive development programs for practising managers, management consulting and research projects relevant to Indian businesses in the fast-changing environment are some of the courses taught, he said. SPJIMR and the Baan Institute have agreed to establish a close working relationship. For SPJIMR, this relationship is part of a broader initiative of its management and business training philosophy to establish networking with other training research and education institutions and to develop alliances with the industry for responding to new challenges of management education due to globalisation of Indian economy. For the Baan Institute, this relationship is part of its university synergy program designed to establish a global research and education network for business and information technology. The networking relationship expected to create knowledge base and expertise in India for adopting enterprise applications by Indian businesses more successfully and making significant contribution to taking this application to its maturity stage in years to come through our joint research and development effort, Buttema added.
