Germans keen of picking Indian software

software production bases in the country, Weber said.

The delegation included management consultant Martin Jahn, legal expert Heinz H Kohn and a software company chief Karl Josef Errens. They held discussions with Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar and State Industry Minister Suseela Gopalan among others regarding the possibility of joint ventures.

The delegation also visited Technopark, the software technology park and the electronics research and development centre.

It also discussed a proposal about starting an academic wing of the Fraunhofer Institute in collaboration with any of the institutes in Kerala.

The Fraunhofer Institute works closely with the German software industry in doing applied research. Among the various potential collaborators identified for the training programme were Software Training Centre of ER&DC and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.

However, the talks are in the preliminary stages, Technopark Chief Executive K G Sateesh Kumar said. The delegation, on the last leg of their India tour, said they were impressed by the facilities in various software development centres.
