Sri Lanka vice-captain Kumar Sangakkara, who suffered minor injuries after gunmen attacked the team's bus in Lahore, said all the players are in a state of shock.
"Everybody is safe. They are a few injuries, but all of them are out of danger. We all are a bit shocked, but fine," Sangakkara told CNN-IBN.
Six members of Sri Lanka's cricket team were wounded when around a dozen gunmen attacked their bus as it drove under police escort on Tuesday to the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore to resume play on the third day of the second Test against Pakistan.
He said a couple of players -- Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavithana -- suffered shrapnel or bullet injuries and are hospitalisted, but out of danger.
"Thilan had a bullet or shrapnel hit his leg. Paranavithana had a shrapnel hit his chest; thankfully it didn't pierce deep and was removed," he said.
"It happened all of a sudden, no warning. It is very unfortunate that this happened," the wicketkeeper added.
Sri Lanka had opted to tour Pakistan after India called off their planned tour to the country following the terror attacks in Mumbai last November.
But Sangakkara pointed out that he has no regrets on touring the country despite the attacks.
"I dont regret coming to play cricket, coz that is what all of us love doing; that is our profession.
"Only regret over what happened."
He revealed that the team is now desperate to leave the country at the earliest.
"All we want to do is just go back to our family and be safe," Sangakkara concluded.
