At a meeting of the Karnataka Cabinet in Bangalore on Friday, a majority of the ministers were understood to have favoured simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha polls, but a final decision is likely on February 4, according to sources.

Most ministers felt that simultaneous polls would be advantageous to the ruling Congress, according to the sources.

Chief Minister S M Krishna has so far remained noncommittal on the issue, but Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B Janardhan Poojary has repeatedly stated that assembly and Lok Sabha elections would be held together.

After the Cabinet meeting, Information Minister G Parameshwara, however, said, "The issue whether to dissolve the state assembly or not to dissolve it did not come up for discussion today."

No decision was taken on presentation of budget either, he said.
