Most of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar are going to witness a straight contest between the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led alliance and the National Democratic Alliance.

The RJD-led secular alliance has decided to contest 26 seats -- Ramvilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party in eight, Congress in four and the Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Nationalist Congress Party in one seat each.

The NDA had won 30 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar in the 1999 election. But this Paswan has aligned with Laloo Prasad Yadav.

In the last election too 26 seats saw a straight contest between the NDA and the RJD-led alliance. While the NDA bagged three seats, the RJD got three, its allies, the Congress and the CPI-M secured one each.
