The Election Commission Tuesday night ordered re-polling in 27 polling booths in seven Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh, including the high-profile Guna seat, from which Congress leader and scion of Gwalior royal family Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting. The EC was taking action, following alleged booth-capturing, damage done to electronic voting machines and other incidents during Monday's voting.

The re-polling is to be held Wednesday between 7 am and 5 pm at the booths in Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Hoshangabad, Vidisha, Rajgarh and Ujjain parliamentary constituencies, the state election office said.

Re-polling would be held at 10 booths in Guna, followed by eight in Bhind, four in Gwalior, two in Rajgarh and one each in Hoshangabad, Vidisha and Ujjain, it said.

Scindia staged a dharna outside the collector's office at Shivpuri and petitioned the Chief Election Commissioner, demanding re-polling in the entire Pichore assembly segment of Guna constituency.

In a letter to the CEC and addressing party workers at Shivpuri, Scindia accused Bharatiya Janata Party workers of indulging in violence and indulging in booth-capturing during the polling Monday.
