Choudhary was speaking at a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party convened in the Central Hall of Parliament on Tuesday evening to elect a new leader after Gandhi expressed her reluctance to be the next prime minister.
"Madam has her own sentiments. Rajiv Gandhi's death anniversary is also nearing. Let's also keep that in mind," Choudhary said.
She ridiculed BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who has threatened to resign her Rajya Sabha seat if Gandhi takes over as prime minister. "It's a stunt...Sushma is only trying to come one up against Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley, who had sidelined her during the election."
