The Congress on Thursday rejected Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Laloo Prasad Yadav's demand that he be made home minister in the Manmohan Singh-led coalition government.

NDTV quoted him as saying that he was unsure of joining the government, though he would extend outside support.

"I will take a decision on joining the government tomorrow and let you know," he said in New Delhi. "There is no suspense here and I am not going back to Patna upset. I will meet the chief minister and other party members there. I have made ministers and prime ministers in the past and again this time they have our support. We are not looking for any posts but want the development of Bihar."

Earlier, the RJD Parliamentary Party failed to take a decision on whether to join the government as a section of the MPs insisted on the party first extracting an assurance from the Centre on a Bihar package.

"We have left it to Laloo Prasad Yadav to take a decision, but Bihar's interest comes first," said MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
