Yash Raj Films will make its foray into animation movies by tying up with Walt Disney Studios, USA. Their first film together will be Roadside Romeo, a film about a dog, that will release in the summer of 2008.

Sanjeev Kohli, Chairman of Yash Raj Films, explains, "The film is about a dog who lives a comfortable life. But one day, he finds himself on the road, and has to sleep on the pavement."

Kohli did not give any details about what the dog would look like, or whether it would be on the lines of Disney's Pluto.

A musical, Roadside Romeo will be directed by Jugal Hansraj, who was earlier seen in Aditya Chopra's directorial venture, Mohabbatein. The voices for the characters will be given by Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Jaaved Jafri.

Walt Disney Studio, Dick Cook was present at the press conference in Mumbai, announcing the tie-up.

"We are thrilled to be part of such a venture," said Cook. "We are looking forward to work with such a talented team. Our film will be in Indian languages and will be culturally relevant for movie-going audiences."

"We have always made films that we believe in," Yash Chopra added. "My son Aditya wanted to look at animation in a big way for a while. We began with Hum Tum (seen here) and followed it up with Ta Ra Rum Pum. We hope to excel and give better films to our audiences."
