Rally continues on FII fuying; Nifty up 16 points to 1062.90

Pivotals continued its rally on buying support extended by foreign institutional investors and domestic institutions and ended with further gains at the National Stock Exchange today.

Reflecting the uptrend, the S&P CNX Nifty rose by 15.95 point to 1062.90 points from 1046.95 points of the previous day.

The CNX Nifty Junior jumped up by 20.45 points to 1919.65 from 1899.20 points while and S&P CNX Defty appreciated by 13 points to 861.80 points from 848.80 points. The S&P CNX 500 index moved up by 9.52 points to 737.10 points while CNX Midcap 200 looked up by 6.13 point to 638.68 points from 632.55 points of the previous day.

Total turnover in 334,156 trades, involving 84.30 million shares was Rs 27.45 billion and the debentures traded were valued at Rs 4.93 million.

Today, 502 securities advanced, 426 declined, 102 remained unchanged while 48 securities hit their price bands today.

The top S&P CNX Nifty gainers were: ICICI which shot up by 8.08 per cent to Rs 59.55 from Rs 55.10, HDFC Bank 8.05 per cent to Rs 73.15 (67.70), BHEL and Indian Rayon 8.01 per cent each to Rs 195.45 (180.95) and Rs 89 (82.40) and ACC eight per cent to Rs 1590.85 (1473).

The top losers were: IFCI which declined by 1.87 per cent to Rs 13.10 (13.35), Colgate 1.65 per cent to Rs 203.10 (206.50), Tata Chemicals 1.64 per cent to Rs 60 (61), Asian Paints 1.27 per cent to Rs 217 (219.80) and Orient Bank 0.99 per cent to Rs 29.95 (30.25).
