Relations with India will improve on resolving Kashmir, says Ayub Khan

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Gohar Ayub Khan told his Parliament today that India was opposing third-party mediation in Kashmir, but in the past it was arbitration that had resolved previous explosive conflicts in the region.

Khan said Pakistan was determined to develop tension-free and good neighbourly relations with India but that depended on resolving "the core issue" of Kashmir.

Last year India had agreed to include Kashmir among the outstanding issues to be resolved through dialogue, but it later reneged on the agreement, he said.
