Carnatic Music Concert Seeks To Highlight Charitable WorkPALO ALTO An evening of Carnatic music featuring Loka Shankar, a disciple of B N Suresh, on the flute and accompanied by H V Srivatsan on violin and Vadiraja Bhatt on the mridangam, is slated for August 7. The free concert is organized by Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, to publicize its charitable work across India. The concert starts at 5 pm and will end at 8 pm. It is being held at the Gunn High School's Spangenberg Theatre. The school is located at 780 Arastradero Road. The Sankara Eye Foundation in America is about two years old. It is a chapter of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust and Sankara Eye Society in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The organization conducts many free eye clinics across India. It has also started helping eye care programs abroad. Recently free camps were held in Cambodia and Cambodian doctors came to India to get specialized training at the Sankara Foundation. The American foundation is also seeking donations to pay for free operations and pay for the equipment.
