Mutiny in New York, Escape In Frisco, Eclipse in Washington

If you are in the Bay Area on August 21, you might want to check out Escape aboard the Royal Star for the first Bay Area party organized by Image and Synergy of New York to mark the second anniversary of their collaboration. With DJ Red and Bay Area's Prince K looking after the music. Boarding is at 9.30 pm at Pier 41.

Age restrictions: 21 years for men, and 18 years for women, bring the ID. Dress code is strictly enforced.

In New York, Sangam Entertainment Group and Gian Devi Productions have plotted a Mutiny on August 27 with DJs Siraiki, Rekha and Navdeep, plus special early live set with Vernon Reid and Suphala.

The uprising will take place at Cooler, 416 14th Street between 9th & 10th

What is special about Club Mutiny?

Over the last few years, South Asian bands, musicians, and DJs such as Talvin Singh, Asian Dub Foundation, Cornershop, Fun^Da^Mental, State of Bengal, Earthtribe, Badmarsh, DJ Ritu, Nitin Sahwney, Black Star Liner, as well as labels like Nation and Outcaste.

Clubs such as Anokha, Swaraj, Sitar Funk, Joi Karma, and Kismet have collectively kicked the British music scene to a new level, infusing drum 'n bass, jungle, techno, hip-hop and dub with Hindi film soundtracks, tablas and sitars, and folk and classical music from all over South Asia.

The folks at Club Mutiny believe that New York's second generation South Asians are reaching critical mass, and they want to have their diasporic creation -- committed to the idea that music, cultures, politics, and histories are not just inherited but made and remade with every generation.

So Mutiny offers space where the second generation will hear the music of their British cousins, at its core. Club Mutiny also asserts that it is about South Asian New York.

For those who feel that the desi music and party scene has become too jaded, Mutiny offers a laboratory where New York musicians and DJs experiment, collaborate, and bust out new sounds, creating new musical and cultural communities that cut across all boundaries.

Also in New York, AzianSoundZ and The Fam present, Aphrodasia on September 3 at the Moroccan Lounge, with DJs Vishal, Nishith and Nitro. The Lounge is at 20 West 39th Street, between 5 and 6th avenues.

For 18 and plus years old, with ID. Ladies admitted free till 10.30 pm; doors open around 9.30 pm.

And if you are in Washington on August 27, you may want to venture Eclipse's A Night of Elegance held at the Paper Moon in Georgetown section of DC, with music by Djs Ro, Vik and Lourie.

The doors open at 10 pm and will close at 3.30 am.

Trendy attire is a must.
