Bangaru Laxman not to
campaign for assembly polls

"Laxman has decided that till his name is cleared by the Justice Venkataswami Commission in the Tehelka episode he will not campaign for the assembly polls and also keep himself away from routine party activities," he told reporters.

Senior party leaders will soon discuss at a chintan camp ways to improve the system of accepting large contributions to the party fund, Krishnamurthy said.

"We would like that the ethics committee, headed by former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, set up by the Lok Sabha speaker would complete its task expeditiously and submit its report soon," he said and added that the Rajya Sabha ethics committee had already gone into the subject.

If the recommendations of these parliamentary committees were not implemented, the BJP which had constituted its own ethics committee for partymen occupying public offices would cover its MPs and MLAs under its own code of ethics, he said.
