Former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh on Saturday flayed the Centre for its decision to make the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) into a legislation despite stiff opposition.
The 'draconian' measure must be immediately scrapped. Mere cosmetic amendments to POTO had failed to clear misgivings about it, Singh told reporters at the Patna airport.
Singh, who was in Patna to release a book Masawat Ki Jung by journalist Ali Anwar, said, "POTO gives unbridled power to the police, which can be frequently misused."
