50 peacocks found dead in Rajasthan

Kamla Bora in Jaipur

Fifty peacocks were found dead near Bubkiya in Ajmer district.

The birds were found on barren land on Sunday afternoon by villagers, official reports reaching the state headquarters said on Monday.

The villagers reported the matter to the police and forest department, who collected the bodies and sent them for post-mortems.

The doctor who conducted the post-mortems said the birds may have consumed insecticide-washed seeds in nearby fields.

The police have registered a case and started investigations to find out if there was foul play.
