Floods in Orissa have so far claimed 98 lives with more reports of deaths pouring in from the marooned areas, official sources said on Tuesday
However, the unofficial figure has crossed 100.
Around 9 million people have been affected by the floods and over 200,000 are still marooned in the worst-hit districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kenderapara, Puri, Jajpur and Cuttack.
Officially the death toll was only 77 till Monday evening.
Sources told rediff.com that the death toll may rise further because of the outbreak of water-borne diseases like diarrhoea and jaundice.
