Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Friday said he would discuss resumption of defence ties with President George W Bush during his visit to the United States beginning February 12.
Addressing a joint press conference with Afghan interim leader Hamid Karzai, Musharraf said he looked forward to normalisation of defence relations between the US and Pakistan, as the Bush administration had lifted all sanctions against Islamabad.
"Indeed, all sanctions have been removed. Pakistan looks forward towards normalisation of relations in the field of military training and equipment in their entirety," he said.
Musharraf will leave for the American city of Boston on Friday night on a private visit, three days ahead of his official visit to Washington.
The Pakistani Ambassador to the US, Maleeha Lodhi, said in Washington on Thursday that Musharraf, accompanied by his wife Sehba, would visit Boston to spend three days with their son, who works as a chartered accountant.
"Indeed, the president would be arriving in Boston on Friday. But it will be strictly a private visit," she said. No one, including the media, has been invited to cover Musharraf's visit to Boston.
The rest of the official delegation accompanying him was expected to leave for the US few days later.
Musharraf is paying his first official bilateral visit to the US after he took over as president.
