Ten terrorists, including a self-styled district commander of Pakistan-based Jaish-e- Mohammed outfit, were killed since Sunday evening in Jammu and Kashmir.
JeM "district commander" Abu Nayeem and his associate were killed in a gun battle with a joint search party of the army and police at Matigowran in Anantnag district, a police spokesman said.
Nayeem, hailing from Pakistan, was the brain behind several suicide attacks on security forces, the spokesman said, adding that he was wanted in a large number of cases in Kashmir.
The spokesman said an unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces at Duksar-Sangaldan in Udhampur district of Jammu. Ten kg of RDX was recovered from the scene.
In the same district, another terrorist was killed and three Border Security Force jawans were wounded in a shootout in Arnab area.
Three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kalaroos forest in Kupwara on Sunday.
Two Lashker-e-Tayiba terrorists were killed during search operations by security forces in Surankote forest in Poonch district.
A terrorist of the Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami, identified as Bashir Ahmad, was killed in an encounter with security forces in village Chatroo in Doda district.
Two SPOs were wounded in Udhampur and one in Doda in militancy-linked incidents.
