The arrest of MDMK chief Vaiko under the Prevention of Terrorism Act appeared imminent on his return from Chicago on July 11 with the Tamil Nadu police chief B P Nailwal asserting that his department would seek a non-bailable warrant against him.
Vaiko has been charged with making pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam remarks at a public meeting at Tirumangalam in Madurai district on June 29.
Vaiko could be arrested even without an arrest warrant as POTA provides for this.
