Pakistan criticises Advani over remarks on Musharraf

Pakistan on Monday night criticised Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishenchand Advani, accusing him of indulging in 'made-up attributions'.

The Pakistan foreign ministry described as 'distorted and malicious' remarks Advani had reportedly made about President Pervez Musharraf.

Advani said India was keeping a 'close watch' on the Pakistan military ruler's moves regarding Kashmir.

Advani had said, "Musharraf is now describing the killing of innocents as acts of terrorism, not freedom struggle. However, his deeds will have to be observed."

A Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman said Musharraf had 'never justified' the killing of innocent people in Kashmir or anywhere else.

The spokesman said, "It did not behove one occupying the office of deputy prime minister of India to indulge in such false and made up attributions."

He said Pakistan recognised the 'struggle of the Kashmir people for their right to self-determination as a freedom struggle and it could not be equated with terrorism'.
