Your Views:When people speak about holding elections in J&K, a hotbed of terrorist activity, why not in Gujarat? Elections provide an opportunity for people to exercise their franchise and elect a government of their choice. The situation in Gujarat is certainly not as serious as the Press wants us to believe. There have been several precedents in our political history where elections have been conducted in provinces under circumstances much more volatile. 1985 Punjab elections are a case in point. After Rajiv-Longowal Pact peace was expected to return to Punjab. But it only resulted in more violence and culminated in Longowal's assassination. But that did not stop the Centre from going for the polls. Indira ordered for polls in Assam even as the state was burning in the early eighties. So why should we read too much into Gujarat developments as if it were something unique and also just because it comes from BJP. Obviously, the people who are against the poll there know the outcome of the poll and want to stop the BJP from coming back. Isn't that approach anti-democratic?

Your Views:The riots have caused a lot of economic to both the comunitties with the minority suffering more. At present there is a silent boycott of Muslim traders and a lot of discontent is there. The need of the hour is to tyr and bring about economic and social development rather than a election. What purpose will the election serve other than benefit to politicians? The elections should be stopped and until the issue of economic and social upliftment is brought about the state should be under Presidents rule. Modi has no moral right to continue as chief minister even caretaker. Government machinery will be used to the benefit of the ruling party whatever the protests from opposition, though every ruling party does the same.

If any violence happened during the poll, Mr. Fernandez, the real RSS Pracharak, would say in the Parliament that killings and rapes are happened even before and it not new. We the people are sick and tired of these politician speacially Mr. Advani, Jaitely, Promod Mahajan, Fernandez and Mr. Naidu the new president. These people always forget that they are rulling with the help of 250 parties including great Sukh Ram.

Our country was the country where Ram and Raheem were eating the food in the same plate. our country has more potential than any other country, but because of this political garbage our country is still a underdeveloped country, since 1947.

Your Views:If the elections before due date after massacre of Sikhs in 1984 are justified, what is wrong with the elections in Gujarat now? If the state government has failed in handling riots after Godhra carnage, the people will have an oppornity to give judgement. The elections are fully justified and there is no valid ground to oppose it. Only people with prejudiced opinion have taken it otherwise. Their sole intention is to criticise government. Let the people of Gujarat decide what is correct and for God's sake, do not interfere in the matter.

If election takes today polarised government will come and murky politicians will use hatred to win. India being a democratic country should not allow such precedence to take place.

People are under the shadow of fear and election means some violence would be created and it can take a bad turn. Business in Gujrat has been gradually coming down and by this election the government have to spend crores of rupees so it would be not a wise decision to hold election now and that too under the caretaker government of Modi, it should be under the Presidents rule and after 6 months.

Your Views:One thing I really don't understand is this: Why congress fears election? Normally if you see, it is always opposition that wants the ruling govt. to resign and ask for the election. Here the BJP is showing guts to go to the people and congress is hiding from election. If Bihar and UP can hold elections, Gujarat is certainly a better state than those. Let the people of Gujarat decide whether they want to throw MODI in to dustbin? Also I am very thankful to all those communist for always making demands on Gujarat issues without people's support. Do they have power to win even a single MLA seat in Gujarat? If not, please keep your mouth shut. We have been staying peacefully after so many years of riots history in Gujarat under congress govt. and it is nobody but this few pro-Pakistan elements that created the mess. The good Muslims like us have also to suffer because of them. I wish if Mr. Gill or somebody like him can control this elements and stop the Gujarat from becoming another Kashmir.

How much the Indian Media giving coverage to tit bit of Kashmir issues ?? How much the suffering of Kashmir Pandits are highlighted ?? If the election can be held with the heights of militancy in Kashmir and in a Jungle like Bihar then why not in Gujarat? Communal divide will be there in the country as long as there is no clear cut policy of goverment in all issues concerning to Country like strict population control, spreading education among Muslims and stopping cordial relation with Pakistan. We should cut all relations with that country . We feel shame when we compare with that country in any thing .We should look at USA, China , Japan Germany etc not towards Pakistan, Banglades ets ... A request for the journalist to elevate their standard and learn lessons from journalists of USA ,Japan,Israel.

Your Views:Whatever might have been Modi's reasons for dissolving the assembly before the end of it's tenure, the fact is that now Gujarat is under a care-taker government. I feel that in this situation, elections should be held as early as possible so that Gujaratis get a chance to elect a fresh government. As for the assumption of some secular progressive types sitting in Delhi that the situation in Gujarat is stil not normal and conducive for elections, let me inform them as a resident of the state that the situation returned to normal a long time back and the entire population of 5 crores (except of course the 13000 remaining relief camp residents) is going about its business without fear. To keep on harping even 5 months after Godhra that Gujarat is still boiling, people are still scared and what not is to insult the Gujarati ethos that believes in taking setbacks in your stride and moving on. The average Gujarati has moved on. Of course the 13000 remaining riot victims should be offered all the support and encouragement needed to rehabilitate themselves and participate in the elections. But the democratic process should not be held hostage to the conditions of 0.026% of the population.

Election will not be an answer to this given situation unless, it has some moral backing. Ending months speculation, he did not do a great favor to Gujarat people by resigning his post,if he was so democratic and compassionate in his approach,he would have done it long back, considering himself culprit before his people. Our country needs good and strong leadership.

Your Views:Yes this outcome could only be expected from a political outfit who stands right side of the centre. We cannot call them Fascist since they have not broken the democratic norms in black & white. But Yes, the spirit of democracy is stamped upon. At one point of time, lot of facilities were dripped down to the minorities without actually thinking about their betterment. Now that same democracy is being used to crush them. Do we need to take a relook at Democracy or may be Indian Democracy? What we actually need is Education. I am not speaking of Academics - the B-Schools, Private technical / medical colleges, but basic education. An education system where the child can answer back to a question " what do you like to be when you grow up?" as "I want to be a good human being". Can we dare to teach our children to say these let aside really thinking in these terms? This is just the begining of such shameful inhuman decisions from our state. It will take a generation to fight this disease that has creeped into our system. We have to make our youngsters ready either to fight it or join it.

Your Views:This is a crisis situation to the Indian democracy.Hindu fundamentalists,in the mask of Mody created progrom to hide their failures in satisfying people needs. As we know Government is by,for and of the people. It has nothing to deal with majority or minority.Election is not a solution. As it can lead to another Mody Government,it will be a flagrant travesty to the Indian democracy.Salvation of pride is required in this juncture of time.Mody and entire NDA has made it clear with their sectarian polity that they have nothing to deal with the feelings of every Indian. They only need power.so they have to divide Indians in the basis of religion. If today Muslims were the majority in India,I know that the story would be reversed. The job of government is not to keep coming back to power, but to look over to interest of every Indian-rich,poor,strong,weak.One can not make a palace from the blood shed by others. We have to stop this process. As far normalcy is concerned,we all know that normalcy and peace in chaotic India only rests in graveyards.Election can not be held in a graveyard. If it is done, ghosts and devils like friends of Mody will come up as the representative of wretched Indians.

Mr.Arun Jaitley should come and stay with his family in Gujarat to realise the ground situtation. It is quite possible not he but may be his family members may admit the truth. Democracy is supposed to be for the people, by the people but in today's world it is for the politicians and by the politicians. Bihar must be condemned to the present dispensation for all time to come! Congress is just being cussed. If the people want the incumbent government to go, the poll results will reflect that. If they want it to stay then who are we to question that mandate. The only requirement is that the polls must be conducted in a manner that very person can vote without fear or favour. It is the EC's job to ensure that. It cannot pass the buck to the current government.

Your Views:The elections should not be held now . why ? 1. The communal atmosphere is really polluted and both the BJP and Congress will try to make the best out of the situation. So this is going to create a bloody campaign which is going to vitiate the atmosphere again. 2. The fairness of Modi Govt is in question and neither the opposition nor a majority of the people may not trust him to provide free and fair elections. This is especially so since there are lot of questions raised about the impartiality of the police force. 3. The elections should be held in a situation where there is no fear. An individual should be able to go to the polling booth fearlessly and vote for the candidate of his choice. The situation in Gujarat can hardly be described as this. 4. A general point not specific to Gujarat- The government is elected for a period of 5 years and they have no right to impose an election on the people , especially when it is a big drain on the exchequer. 5. There is no necessity for an election right now in Gujarat. It is a clear ploy by Modi and BJP to cash in on the Hindutva wave generated by the riots. This opportunism should be stopped by all means.

Your Views:I think at the moment polls are not the answer for Gujrat problem. There is a need to do more harmony in masses. President rule for some time will not be a bad option. The BJP govt. is playing double standard by proposing to impose president rule in J & K but not in Gujarat. I think BJP party is trying to cash on the communal feelings of voters indulged in riots. This mean mentality of Indian politicians (of any party) for their benefit will further deterioate law and order situation in the country. Initially Mr.Modi was protected and allowed to continue as CM even after so much blood shed and then he himself is resigning and proposing elections. Situation in Gujarat is not fit for elections. Neither immediate election results will prove of any benefit. It should be given some time to people to settle. I think President's rule for one-two years will be best option. May God save Gujarati people from these politicians.

Your Views:The decission is right at this point of time as the voilence is drastrically come down. Let us compare with the J & K % is very minimum. Is minority are fearful of the election. If they are really Indians let us join and face the election and succeed in electing a right type of Government. This will show the secularism in real public. Not by the politicians views. Think of more worse sutiations in Nagaland, J & K. Election means to elect a right Govt. Politicians should not believe in their views as it is only one-way. See the existing politicans they are not true to their self. If they are true to themselves let them declare their assets before filing their applications. Why they have to fear for it?

Your Views:In a democracy , polls are the only means where the voice of the people can be heard and more importantly people can enforce their will . Polls will prove for once and for all that what the people of Gujarat really want. Why deny the people of Gujarat their right to choose and elect whom they want to?. As far as the logic and question of few hundreds of the affected people not able to excercise their franchise are concerned then by the same yardstick no elections can be held in states like J & K , Assam, MP,MAharashtra ( what about all the Narmada oustee evicted from their land and homes and who continue living as refugees and with no hopes of rehabilitation?) "vox populi vox dei" the voice of the people is the voice of gods and election are the only means which will give the oppurtunity and decide the people choice.
