India needs to do more to ease tensions: Musharraf

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday said that the steps taken by India to ease the military standoff between the nuclear-armed neighbours were 'a very small beginning' and more action was needed.

Musharraf also welcomed a planned visit by United States Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, saying Islamabad would do its best to cooperate with the US to defuse the tension.

India on Monday allowed the use of its air space by Pakistani commercial flights after a six-month ban.

Asked if Pakistan was going to reciprocate the Indian moves, he said: "Pakistan has done far more than its share in easing the tensions."

"We are looking for genuine steps," he told a press conference in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, where he is on an official visit.
