A terrorist of Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen was shot dead and another arrested in Kashmir since Friday evening, a Border Security Force spokesman said on Saturday.
The BSF laid a trap between Sheikhpura and Barzulla in Baramulla district on Friday evening and challenged a group of terrorists.
In the ensuing encounter, Mohammed Shafi Lone was killed, the spokesman said.
Three hand grenades, one Kalashnikov rifle and some rounds were recovered from the slain terrorist, he said.
The BSF arrested Tanveer Ahmed Wani, a company commander of the same outfit who carried a reward of Rs 50,000, from Barzulla hospital early on Saturday.
He was also a close confidant of Irshad, the district commander of the outfit who was killed recently, the spokesman added.
One AK 56 rifle, five magazines, 135 rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from him.
