Nine days after his surrender to the trial court, the Delhi high court on Wednesday once again granted two-and-half months' bail to Manu Sharma, the main accused in the Jessica Lal murder case.
Declining to grant him regular bail, Justice R C Chopra said his "plea is partly allowed and it is ordered that the petitioner be released on interim bail for a period of 10 weeks upon his executing a personal bond of Rs 100,000 and two sureties of the like amount."
Restricting his visits to Delhi from Chandigarh, his home town, only to the days of court hearings, Justice Chopra said the accused "shall" not leave the country without the permission of the court. He was also directed to deposit his passport with the court.
Warning that "he shall not do anything to interfere with or tamper with the evidence," the court said if he was found violating the court direction, "his bail shall be revoked immediately."
