The self-styled commander of Lashkar-e-Tayiba who was killed in a joint operation of the Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police was the brain behind the Akshardham attack and Nadimarg massacre, a paramilitary force officer said on Friday.

Manzoor Zahid Choudhry was also involved in several fidayeen attacks, BSF Deputy Inspector General K Srinivasan said.

Choudhry, a resident of Lahore, was also publicity in charge of LeT.

Srinivasan said the BSF has gathered a lot of information from the laptop computer and digital diary seized from the slain militant.

Srinivasan said Choudhry, who was functioning under several aliases, through an email had informed one Saiful Muzammil in Pakistan about the successful attack on the Akshardham temple.

He said Choudhry had deputed two militants -- Hafiz and Hawal -- to carry out the temple attack.
