Pawar on Bhujbal's resignation

"I am known as a fighter. I will not quit the battleground and continue my fight," Bhujbal said when reminded of his recent statement that he would not quit in the wake of opposition allegations against him in connection with the fake stamp-paper racket.

He said he put in his papers only because of the attack by NCP activists on the office of Alpha Marathi channel, a sister concern of Zee Telefilms.

"Media played a vital role in propagating to people my fight against injustice. So if media was victimised because of me, then as a home minister I must take penance for it. That is the reason for my resignation," he said.

Bhujbal said he would continue to work as an NCP leader and would attend the party's two-day brainstorming session in Mumbai.

Asked about possibility of an organisational post coming his way, Bhujbal said, "I am a member of the upper house of the state legislature and can deliver as an MLC also."
