A day after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and a few others were injured in mine blasts, a bomb disposal squad on Thursday unearthed nearly a dozen claymore mines planted on a stretch of 200 metres on the second ghat road leading to the Lord Venkateswara shrine.

The mines, planted at intervals of 15-20 feet, were detected with the help of sniffer dogs, police sources said.

The mines might have been planted about six months ago with a view to wipe out the CM's entire convoy, they said.

Every year on the eve of 'Garuda Seva' Naidu visits the shrine to offer silk 'vastrams'.

The sources said only four mines went off on Wednesday.
