In a major relief to Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, a metropolitan court on Thursday suspended operation of a non-bailable warrant against him in a cheating case.

Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate M Gandhi asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief to appear before him on September 15, by when he should also execute a personal bond of Rs 5,000 with two sureties.

The warrant was issued in connection with a complaint lodged by an advocate and TRS worker N Prahalad that Rao had collected a huge amount of money from party activists for election tickets.

Rao, the complainant said, neither returned the money nor deposited it in the party's account.
