Mayawati promises Ambedkar Vidarbha Rajya

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Thursday said the party, if voted to power in Maharashtra, will create a separate state of Vidarbha and name it after Babasaheb Ambedkar.

"We will carve out a separate Vidarbha state and name it as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidarbha Rajya," Mayawati told reporters in Mumbai.

The BSP had performed well in Vidarbha in the recent Lok Sabha election.

About forging an alliance with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, Mayawati said: "We have not made up our mind so far...but as of now, we want to go it alone in the polls."

The party will contesting all 288 seats, she said.
