A woman has accused Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman of bigamy, rape and planning to kill her.

Sushila Suman has told the Delhi high court that the MP from Ferozebad had raped her. Scared of the consequent legal consequences, he married her according to Hindu rites and customs. At that time, he had concealed the fact that he was a married person. Subsequently, the MP began threatening her.

In her petition, she has also alleged that the MP had made several girls, including a minor, the target of his lust.

Sushila Suman has sought registration of an FIR against the MP under sections 323 (causing hurt), 323 (wrongful confinement), 354 (outraging modesty), 376 (rape), 392 (robbery), 494 (bigamy), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code. She has demanded a CBI probe against the MP.

Justice B N Chaturvedi on Friday told Ramji Lal Suman to reply to the allegations by March 18, 2004. He also directed the Delhi Police to provide protection to Sushila Suman and other members of her family.
