Tabrez Telgi, accused in the fake stamp paper scam and nephew of prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi, who was arrested again in Pune on Tuesday, was on Wednesday produced before a metropolitan court in Mumbai for remand.

The Special Investigating Team had last month held him in Pune under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

The second arrest was in connection with another stamp paper scam in suburban Mulund.

The SIT on Tuesday procured a transfer warrant for Tabrez from a special MCOCA court in Pune and moved him to Mumbai.

"The SIT will plead for the police custody of Tabrez in the Mulund fake stamps case, which is pending investigation with Mumbai police," an SIT official said on Wednesday.

The fake stamp case in which Tabrez was arrested is among the 16 cases registered by the Mumbai police against Abdul Karim Telgi.

All these cases have been transferred to the SIT for reinvestigation as they were kept pending by respective police officers for no good reason, sources said.
