Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray is unlikely to accept the Pakistan Cricket Board's invitation to watch some matches between India and Pakistan because he is opposed to a series between the two teams.

Thackeray has criticised Pakistan for extending a hand of friendship even as it promoted anti-India activities in various parts of the country.

The PCB has invited several VVIPs for the first one-day international at Karachi on March 13. One of them reportedly is Thackeray. Incidentally, the Shiv Sena chief hardly ever leaves the city. After a long period, he recently went to Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) to attend the wedding of Sahara chief Subroto Roy's son.

He refused to talk to mediapersons on the issue but Shiv Sena general secretary Kiran Wadvikar said, "Cricket can't help to make the two countries come closer. No need to have any hope from the cricket matches because Pakistan's anti-India policy will continue."

But not all Indians seem to share his sentiments as several have been queuing up for visas to visit Pakistan to watch the matches. Also, there are not enough tickets to match the demand, in India and Pakistan.
