Two Indian Air Force officers, who have been accused by their colleague Anjali Gupta of sexual harassment, failed to appear before the police for inquiry on Thursday, official sources said.

The police said Squadron Leader R S Choudhary and Adjutant and Wing Commander V C Cyriac, Chief Administrative Officer at the Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment in Bangalore, were served notices on Wednesday asking them to appear before the investigating authorities of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited police station on Thursday.

The officials, who were expected to turn up for inquiry before 1530 IST, did not appear, the sources said.

The officials have told the police they have to seek the permission of their superiors to appearing before them.

Gupta, who filed the complaint in February, however, refused to accept the police notice and she too did not appear for the inquiry.

Gupta, the first woman IAF official to face court martial proceedings for various charges including insubordination, indiscipline and financial irregularities, was taken into custody on Thursday by the IAF to 'prevent her from harming herself'.
