The Supreme Court on Monday declined to grant interim bail to Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, accused in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ram Avtar Jaggi but allowed him to see his ailing father under CBI custody.

A bench comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice S H Kapadia said it was not inclined to interfere with the Chhattisgarh high court order, rejecting the bail of Amit but he can be permitted to be brought to Delhi in police custody to see his ailing father.

The court said the trial in the case will go as scheduled by the high court from December 13 and the accused will go back before that date to stand trial.

During the entire period of his stay in the capital, he will be accompanied by two police officials and if he attempted to tamper with the evidence or tried to win over the witnesses at the same time, the relief granted to him will be cancelled.

The court made it clear that after Amit returns from Delhi, he will not seek adjournment of the trial court proceedings on the ground that he was not prepared to stand trial as he was in the capital to see his ailing father.
