Trains to Gujarat cancelled

Rains in Gujarat has led to cancellation of all trains on busy Ahmedabad-Mumbai section on as rail tracks continued to remain submerged in several sections in the state, railway sources said on Friday.

"Trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai have been cancelled as tracks are submerged near Vadodara," said Western Railway official Shailendra Kumar.

"About twelve trains have been cancelled and several north-bound trains were diverted via Surat-Jalgaon-Bhopal
section", he added.

Some of the trains leaving Mumbai, that were cancelled today include Bandra-Bikaner Ranakpur Express, Saurashtra Janta Express, Kutch express, Saurashtra Mail, Aravali Express, Bhavnagar Express, Gujarat Mail, Dehradun Express and Vadodara Express.

Trains diverted from Surat include August Kranti Rajdhani Express, Jaipur Superfast, Golden Temple, Avadh Express and Rajdhani Express.

Trains cancelled for July 1 include Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express, Gujarat Express and Firozepur Janata Express.

"Of the eight trains that have left Ahmedabad towards Mumbai this morning, only Karnavati Express has managed to reach Vadodara", Ahmedabad railway official K K Dubey said, adding that rail traffic will only be resumed after water
receeds from the tracks.

"We are running few trains upto Surat and one special train to Ankaleshwar," he said. Sayaji Express, Kutch Express and a passenger train No 239 will go up to Surat, he said.

Saurashtra Express which left Mumbai Central this morning would go up to Surat, he added.
