About 100 suspected Shiv Sainiks were on Sunday detained when they tried to disrupt a public meeting called by expelled party leader Narayan Rane at Dadar in central Mumbai, the police said.

Few hours before the meeting, unidentified persons had set afire some tyres, the police said, adding, strong bandobast has been maintained with tension prevailing in the area. The meeting later started as scheduled.

Meanwhile, sources close to Rane said Shiv Sainiks are giving vent to their anger as Rane is all set to join the Congress.
