A Mumbai court on Wednesday extended till June 13 the judicial custody of dismissed police constable Sunil More, who was arrested for allegedly raping a teenager at a police outpost in south Mumbai in April.
More was not produced before the court due to security reasons and the judicial custody was extended till June 13 via video conferencing.
More, in an inebriated condition, had allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl at a police outpost in Marine Drive on April 21 and was subsequently dismissed from service.
Meanwhile, based on certain media reports that More was assaulted in custody by other inmates, his lawyer Deepak Paikrao made an application to shift More to another cell.
However, when asked by the magistrate, More denied having been assaulted.
Earlier, on May 3, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D B Nikam had changed the venue of the case to the office of the deputy commissioner of police (detection) following protests and demonstrations by Bharatiya Janata Party activists demanding that More be hanged for the crime.
