Newly-elected Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday put the onus on senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to deal with the fallout of the crisis created by firebrand sanyasin Uma Bharti over his selection.

"I have been given the responsibility to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh and the organisation and senior leaders will take care of everything else," Chouhan told reporters in Bhopal.

"I will do my job of serving the people," he added.

On Monday, Uma Bharti along with 13 MLAs had stormed out of the Madhya Pradesh legislature party meeting protesting the nomination of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the state chief minister.

A defiant Uma, who was suspended from the primary membership of the party, is now undertaking a Ayodhya Padayatra asserting that she was the real BJP and she would not accept any disciplinary action.
