Sayeed directs release of ex-gratia to Ganai's kin

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed directed the deputy commissioner, Anantnag on Thursday to release ex-gratia relief to the next of kin of Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary Ghulam Nabi Ganai who was killed by militants four days ago.

Accompanied by state CPI (M) secretary and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, the chief minister visited Ganai's house at Seer Hamdan village in Anantnag district and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family.

Describing Ganai as a dedicated political worker who worked for social justice, Sayeed directed the deputy commissioner, Anantnag to immediately release the ex-gratia relief in favour of his kin. Ganai was shot dead by militants outside his house on Monday.

The chief minister later visited Kashmir university south campus at Fatehgarh in Anantnag and took stock of the pace of construction work going on there.

Sayeed fixed March next year as the deadline for overall completion of the academic, administrative and hostel blocks so that classes could start from the next academic session.
