Two Indian nationals who survived the October 8 earthquake in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and were airlifted to Islamabad for treatment, left for home through the Wagah border on Thursday.

The father-son duo Jagdish Lal Tandon and Subhash Tandon, admitted to a private hospital by the Indian High Commission a week ago, was sent back by road, Indian diplomats said. Both hail from Jammu.

The two, along with a relative, Basti Ram Tandon, arrived at Muzaffarabad, the capital of PoK, by the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus on October 6 to visit their relatives at Ghari Dupatta village.

While the duo survived the quake, Basti Ram was killed and his body was yet to be retrieved from the debris.

PoK President General (Retd) Anwar Khan said Pakistan would permit Basti Ram's relatives to go to Ghari Dupatta to cremate him after the body was recovered. If the relatives want to take the body India, the Pakistan government would permit that also, he said.
