The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, on Friday, urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to release those relatives of quake victims in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir who are detained in Indian jails.

"I urged the Prime Minister to help the families that are broken and shattered because of the earthquake in PoK by releasing their relatives detained for years in different Indian jails under Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act," party officials told reporters.

Claiming there were 124 such detenus in various Indian jails, they have pleaded with Dr Singh to send them back to their broken and disturbed families as an Eid gift.

The party has, in a letter to Dr Singh, sent names and the addresses of all such prisoners who, according to him, deserve general amnesty. "This shall be a unique humanitarian relief," they said.
